Imagination is the ultimate competitive advantage

Panasonic and Sony recorded huge losses and quickly reduced their influence in the global market. There are several reasons for their setbacks. The media is concerned about the failed competition with emerging competitors such as South Korea and China, but this has not touched the most important part of the problem. The real problem of its disastrous consequences can be attributed to the lack of innovation. Japanese electronics giants have failed to create new and innovative products, overemphasizing the manufacture of high quality and high performance products at the lowest possible cost.

This is entirely Ptolemy's theory, proclaiming that "the paradise surrounds the earth." In other words, the underlying idea is that producing high-quality products at very competitive costs will be warmly welcomed by Japanese consumers and all consumers on the planet. This is the self-centered view of Japanese companies. The Ptolemy theory should be replaced by the Copernican theory, which advocates "the earth revolves around heaven." In other words, the idea that the Japanese market should be one of the markets on earth should be taken. Japan's major electronics companies have made the same mistake, a mistake made by American competitors half a century ago. History always repeats itself.

Suppose you have three beer bottles before. It is easy to calculate them in English. You can simply say "one bottle", "two bottles" and "three bottles". However, in Japanese, the story is quite complicated. You have to say "ippon", nihon, "and" sanbon. "You can't say "ippon", "nipon" and "sanpon". Similarly, you can't say "ichibon", "nibon" and "sanbon". You can't say "ichihon", "nihon" and "sanhon". It is difficult for foreigners to understand. A primary school boy accepted the test and asked him to answer how to read the six calendar dates accurately.

He wrote the "New Year" on January 1 instead of how to read it accurately in Japanese. On February 2, he further wrote "stretching your legs under a bedding [Japanese foot warmer]", "The Young Leaves of the Leaves" on June 6, and the "Galaxy" on July 7th, " Summer" "For the August 8th holiday, and look forward to the new year." What good answers they have! It is particularly worth mentioning that, because he is a primary school boy, on June 6th, "the small leaves on the tree covered a small road" is really great. His teacher told the boy that he misunderstood the questions and that none of the answers was correct. His very good answer got a perfect score in the real world, although from an academic point of view, these answers are not correct. Elementary school boys and girls will soon learn how to accurately read calendar dates in conversations with friends.

The most important subject of the teacher is the ability to develop the imagination that the boy has shown. Imagination is the ultimate competitive advantage, and innovation comes from imagination. The future of Japanese industry depends entirely on imaginative boys and girls.
