There are countless ways to do greening in our workplace. I will share a few below, and these may not even require a lot of your effort.
Recyclingfrom
Most of us are lazy in recycling, but it's irresponsible to avoid doing things that save energy, space, water and resources. The important thing is that we have to educate ourselves about what can be recycled and then actually do it. A large number of items such as paper, plastic, bottles, cans, and ink cartridges can be easily recycled.
2. Carpooling/bicycle/walking to workfrom
: Transportation accounts for the majority of all greenhouse gas emissions. Working with colleagues living nearby, a few carpools a week can make a big difference. Or, if your workplace is within walking distance, you can turn to work by bike or even walk.
3. Paperlessfrom
: These days you really don't need to print. Switch to a paperless conference or try duplex printing to reduce waste as this will save 50% on paper costs. Instead of printing important files and documents, share them on the cloud. Use e-mail instead of paper for communication. Although we still need paper, we try to choose environmentally friendly recycled paper and try to avoid using chlorine bleached paper and choose paper with a lot of post-consumer content.
4. Power offfrom
: Even if we don't use them, our equipment consumes a lot of power. Most office power is consumed by devices that are turned off but still plugged into live outlets. Be sure to turn off your computer before you leave; set them to standby and continue to consume power even when not in use. Reduce screen brightness and eliminate screen savers in your system. Switch your computer to the energy saving settings. Connect printers, scanners, and other peripherals to the smart power strip to turn off the entire setup as soon as you're not using it.
5. Greeningfrom
: Add the factory to your desk and encourage your colleagues to do the same. Plants absorb air pollutants and increase oxygen flow. Adding plants not only helps you breathe cleaner air, it also creates a more comfortable environment for your work.
