Residential cargo lifts - 5 key terms to understand

The words used in the freight industry are everyday terms that you may already be familiar with, but some of the terms you use for home use are little known or have special considerations.

Let us know the five key terms you might see when evaluating and researching elevators designed for use in your home or home.

Residential goods lift glossary

  1. Mast technology from

: The mast constitutes the structural support of the lift. Like a flagpole mast or a mast, its function is to provide stability. There are 5 different levels of mast support. For residential elevators, double masts are preferred. This level actually consists of two masts and provides more support than a single mast rig. The mast can be configured with cargo bays in a variety of ways to accommodate the items being lifted. The good materials to look for in residential elevators are aluminum and stainless steel because they are more durable and resistant to environmental changes.
  2. Cargo cage from

: This is part of the elevator and is designed to accommodate your stuff [goods]. Another common term is transportation. Non-slip flooring is very important in residential elevators. The materials used to prevent slipping not only prevent valuable cargo from slipping off the cargo hold, but also prevent your household items from being scratched or damaged on the way.
  3. Rotary limit switch from

: Almost all types of heavy lifting equipment that rotates or moves up and down use something called a rotary limit switch. In a residential elevator, you want to rotate the limit switch not just to move the cargo compartment up and down. The elevator switch should allow you to control the stop smoothly, so household items [or personal!] will not be crushed or damaged during transport.
  4. Winder from

: The winder is the mechanism for controlling the cable in the elevator. All residential elevators are different, so the number of existing winders may vary depending on the manufacturer's specifications. When moving residential items [furniture, boats or medical supplies with special needs], heavy-duty cables [such as aircraft cables made of stainless steel] are used, so a winch is preferred.
  5. improving capability from

It's no surprise that lifting capacity refers to the weight that the mast, cargo hold, rotary switch and winder can support. The gold standard for residential elevators is 1,000 pounds [or 450 kilograms].

There are various other residential goods promotion terms, but the ones mentioned above are some of the most commonly used. When you install elevators in your home or property, you can be sure that you will encounter them. If you visit the supplier's website but do not see these terms, please be sure to ask for information.

Since residential elevators are designed to transport "goods" that are more valuable than commercial elevators, it would be helpful if you know some of the few differences between terms used for various purposes.
